Fisker EMotion: Under The Hood Of The Future's Electric Luxury Sedan

Fisker Automotive is an American automobile manufacturer based in Anaheim, California. It was founded by automotive designer Henrik Fisker and industrialist Bernhard Koehler in 2007 as a spinoff from their previous company, Fisker Coachbuild. The company designs and manufactures electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a focus on luxury and high performance.

On 21 July 2012, the company unveiled the Fisker Latigo, a large sedan with a target price between US$55,000 to US$100,000. Later that year, it announced plans for the Fisker Atlantic, to be positioned below the Latigo as Fisker Automotive's second production model.

In August 2013, Bob Lutz said that Fisker Automotive would resume making cars in 2014 and that former Chrysler executive Gilbert Villareal would oversee this process. However, in May 2014 Henrik Fisker said that the company had no plans to manufacture cars in the United States until 2016 or 2017 and that he was looking for a manufacturing site in Europe instead. On November 19, 2015, Fisker announced it will build its next generation powertrain plant in Gainesville, Florida in cooperation with Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA).

The Fisker EMotion is a plug-in electric car. 2023 Fisker Automotive claims a range of 400 miles (640 km) based on the new WLTP test cycle.

It will be available in five body types: a saloon, estate, shooting brake, SUV and hatchback.

Fisker EMotion will target production of 10,000 units per year with a base price of $129,900 before tax credits, making it about $20,000 more expensive than competition like the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan.
